How can mixed reality enhance anatomy education without replacing traditional dissection?
Join professor Klaudia Proniewska, Director of the Center for Digital Medicine and Robotics Jagiellonian University Medical College, Kraków, Poland, as she presents findings from years of experience with HoloAnatomy software and scientific study where first-year medical students integrated a holographic anatomy software into their anatomy curriculum.
The mixed reality (MR) sessions enabled students to explore and manipulate 3D holographic anatomy models in real time, complementing their dissection-based studies. Survey data from 98 participants revealed strong engagement, improved spatial understanding, and broad support for a hybrid learning model that combines immersive 3D visualization with traditional methods.
By attending, you’ll learn:
How a curriculum-based MR implementation was structured and delivered to first-year medical students.
What student feedback revealed about learning outcomes, engagement, and usability.
Practical insights for integrating MR into anatomy programs alongside dissection.
Professor Proniewska will share lessons learned from this pioneering initiative and discuss how mixed reality can enhance comprehension, interactivity, and retention in anatomy education as well her experience with immersive technology in clinical environment.
